- Well, the .INF file doesn't do anything to your modem-- it describes
- the modem to Win95. When you see the dialog box that says, "Building
- modem information database", Win95 is taking all the MDMxxxx.INF files
- and building a knowledge base it can use to determine what kind of
- modem you have.

- To upgrade your modem to a 33.6, you need to download a .SDL file from
- the USR bulletin board. Sorry, I don't have that number handy, but
- some of the other posts in this newsgroup have mentioned it.
- Alternatively, you can send email to: support@usr.com and request the
- BBS phone number. Their email system is automated, so the subject of
- your email msg needs to be 0000.
