  32. Well, the .INF file doesn't do anything to your modem-- it describes
  33. the modem to Win95.  When you see the dialog box that says, "Building
  34. modem information database", Win95 is taking all the MDMxxxx.INF files
  35. and building a knowledge base it can use to determine what kind of
  36. modem you have.

  38. To upgrade your modem to a 33.6, you need to download a .SDL file from
  39. the USR bulletin board.  Sorry, I don't have that number handy, but
  40. some of the other posts in this newsgroup have mentioned it.
  41. Alternatively, you can send email to:  support@usr.com and request the
  42. BBS phone number.  Their email system is automated, so the subject of
  43. your email msg needs to be 0000.
